PPAWS are Cambodia’s first-ever animal welfare and veterinary NGO, supporting local communities and stray and rescued animals with free and low-cost veterinary care since 2011.

After many great years in our location, we urgently need more space to expand our animal hospital and shelter to meet the demand of the many cats and dogs who need our help. We are searching for our dream location to allow us to scale up our operations,  rescue more animals, and invite more volunteers from around the world to join us in our mission.

New Clinic & Animal Hospital

Our veterinary clinic and animal hospital support our beloved community of clients and cat and dog patients, and this new clinic and hospital will empower us to serve them even better.

As well as our regular clients, our clinic supports many animal rescuers, monks and pagoda communities, pagoda cat and dog feeders, and members of the community who need free, low-cost and subsidised animal care.

We have been privately sponsored by a very kind and generous PPAWS supporter and long-term client to buy blood testing machines to have on site, and we plan to purchase more veterinary machines to offer more services directly in the clinic. This will not only save valuable time and resources, but will enable us to offer more free and low-cost services to rescued and stray animals who might otherwise not get this care.

Animal Shelter & Rescue Centre

We receive messages from the public every single day asking us to rescue and take in cats and dogs, but with our animal shelters at capacity, we are stuck. The need for rescue is constant, particularly with sick and injured animals who have nobody to care for them, so this is where we are needed.

Our new and improved animal shelter and rescue centre will give us more space for taking in stray, injured and rescued animals, and caring properly and effectively for their needs.

Our brand new adoption centre will enable us to not only rescue more animals, but to connect them with adoptive families so that they can go to loving forever homes.

About PPAWS

PPAWS was founded in 2011 by English teacher Nicola Scales to help cats and dogs in Cambodia with the challenging conditions they face. With the help of many Cambodian and international animal lovers who shared Nicola’s vision, the non-profit organisation has since grown to a household name as it has expanded to help animals countrywide.

Today, our Phnom Penh location is our base of operations with a veterinary clinic, animal hospital and a small cat and dog shelter.

From PPAWS Phnom Penh we offer Free Mondays giving free veterinary care and spay and neuter surgeries to stray animals. We also complete fortnightly Pagoda visits, giving free veterinary care and desexing surgeries at pagodas around the city.

Each month we go on missions in Phnom Penh or locations across Cambodia that do not have access to veterinarians and veterinary surgeries. We give free and low-cost veterinary care in places such as Mondulkiri, Siem Reap, Battambang, Koh Kong, Koh Rong & Koh Rong Sanloem, and we aim to expand these missions with further funding.

Since 2019 we have run a second clinic in Kampot, which offers veterinary services to the local community, as well as free and subsidised clinic days and pagoda support missions.

What We Do

Veterinary clinic

Our full-service vet clinics in Phnom Penh and Kampot support our clients with vaccinations, check-ups, diagnostics, blood testing, surgeries, documents for international travel and more. We are low-cost to make veterinary care accessible to people who cannot afford it, and we offer many discounted and free services for animals in need. 

The income generated from our hospital goes into funding our free services, missions and rescue work. So when you bring your pet to PPAWS, you help fund the care of strays and animals in need. 

Free Programs

We offer a range of free programs to bring veterinary care and spay & neuter surgeries to animals who need it. 

We support the community through our Free Mondays Stray & Rescue Clinic, providing free desexing surgeries, rabies vaccines and deworm/deflea to stray and rescued animals. We also visit pagodas each month to bring these same services to cats and dogs living there.

Each month we go on a larger veterinary mission, bringing these vital services to places in Cambodia without access to veterinary care or surgery for spay & neuter. 

Animal Rescue

Through our clinic and hospital and our mission work, sometimes we find animals who need rescuing, and we take them into our care. We run a small shelter for cats and dogs in Phnom Penh, and we can’t wait to move and create an even bigger and better one. 

All animals we rescue are treated for any illness or injury that may have brought them to us. They are desexed, fully vaccinated and microchipped, and then available for adoption. We have a great success rate with adoptions, and, with our support, some of our cats and dogs have even gone overseas with their adopters!

In our 15 years we have helped thousands of animals in Cambodia. As the first animal rescue organisation in Cambodia, PPAWS has grown as a true grassroots organisation into a household name that helps thousands of animals every year.
